Messes, a bit of chaos, experimentation, 3-headed dragons... it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s all part of the process of exploring the world of art. At KMS, we believe all children are innately and uniquely creative and that supporting that creativity early in life can have positive effects on academic achievement throughout a child?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s schooling, and provide many hours of just plain fun!
This class help  s students learn to develop their creative ideas and develop their technical skills in a non-judgemental, non-competitive environment.
Students will get a chance to work in a wide variety of media, including painting, drawing, collage, water color/crayon resist, tempera paints and paper mache. For the Sculpture with Recycled Materials class students will go to SCRAP Recycling Center to pick out their own materials to create with.

Magical Math & Cool Science
TUESDAY or THURSDAY
Too often the magic, mystery, and art of mathematics is forgotten. This class teaches students ?¢‚Ǩ?ìcore?¢‚Ǩ¬ù math concepts through games and hands?¢‚Ǩ‚Äúon activities. Lessons will include Dice games and Probability, Fractals and Fibonacci Numbers with Flowers, and When Does 1+1=1? Alternating with Magical Math will be fun hands-on science experiments from the laboratory of Mr. Mac and Rockit Science including: Water Bottle Rockets, Cool Household Chemistry, and Newton?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Hot Wheels. Classes engage students in the process of figuring out science concepts through questions and investigations. The emphasis is on exploring the problem solving process and developing critical thinking skills.

Here?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s a sure-fire way to get the evening meal out of fast food restaurants and back in the home; teach kids the joy of cooking fun, kid friendly, healthy meals. All classes are ?¢‚Ǩ?ìhands-on?¢‚Ǩ¬ù and designed to encourage a life long appreciation for food. Students learn to cook, bake and work safely in the kitchen while exploring creative food ideas in meal preparation. KMS, a proponent of the ?¢‚Ǩ?ìslow-food?¢‚Ǩ¬ù movement, is committed to fresh, organic, seasonal, locally grown ingredients whenever possible. Classes held in our state-of-the-art Viking teaching kitchen. Students will share what they cook in a sit-down family style lunch.

Adventures in Music

Learn the basics of music through silly songs, rhythm instruments and singing games. Everyone gets a turn to be the conductor to learn the importance of working together to make beautiful music. Jam along with Tito Puente recordings using latin percussion instruments. Play traditional singing games from around the world and from American Folk Songs for Children by Ruth Crawford Seeger. Play the KMS Drum Game to as you attempt to complete the Mozart?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Musical Obstacle Course.

Mexican Folk Dancing/Culture
WEDNESDAY
At the same time as you are learning some of the most beautiful traditional Mexican Folk dances you will be learning about the Mexican cultural roots of the dances. You?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ll will be introduced to footwork techniques, basic and elegant moves and proper alignment. In addition to learning these dances, you will also learn to sew basic components of the traditional Mexican costumes, all the while being introduced to traditional Mexican Music.

WEDNESDAY
This activity-based Spanish class is a fun, unique way to get you speaking Spanish quickly. You will learn experientially through participating in various activities and learning the Spanish associated with those activities. Learn useful, everyday terms on subjects you would encounter if visiting a Spanish-speaking country. You will act out various scenarios, learn songs and discover how much fun it is to converse in a different language.
